Sound Transit Activities Update 060721UPDATE ON SOUND TRANSIT ACTIVITES IN THE CITY OF FEDERAL WAY June 7, 2021 Land Use and Transportation Committee Presenting: Ryan Medlen, City Liaison to Sound Transit 1 Federal Way Link Extension (FWLE) Clearing activities continue along I-5. They are also in the process of drilling column shafts where Military Rd crosses under I-5 south of 304th St. for the future guideway crossing. All three stages of the column work – foundation shafts, columns, and the column caps – are currently in process in the City Center area. These will continue and the delivery of girders to start building the structure may start as early as August. Major utility work on 320th St. is expected to start this month. The work will occur at night include shifting water, sewer, and storm sewer lines to allow construction of a column on the north side of 320th. Sound Transit is developing an outreach plan with regards to the plaza sculpture for the station. They plan to inform the next design by partnering with different community groups. 2 Operations & Maintenance Facility – South (OMF-South) Staff comments were submitted to Sound Transit on the OMF-South DEIS. No date is known yet for when the Sound Transit Board will identify a preferred alternative, but it is expected later this year. 3 Tacoma Dome Link Extension (TDLE) In the months of June and July, the Sound Transit Board will be considering the prioritization of their projects in light of a funding shortfall. 4 QUESTIONS?
