T-Mobile has requested to amend the existing wireless agreement to include an existing facility obtained through merger. Work guaranteed through performance and maintenance bonds. Insurance consistent with city standards. 3 3 Background Information Wireless demand has seen exponential increase in past few years. To be competitive, cities must keep up with technology. Demand will be met through implementation of 5G networks. T-Mobiles’ 5G relies on upgrade of the existing “macro tower” system with new technology. 4 Verizon is first. AT&T / Cingular Wireless also in progress. 4 Background: Macro Wireless (Antenna Replacement) 5 City has developed interim standards for design and deployment. 5 Background Information Financial Impacts $2,000.00 deposit for Franchise Amendment development. Existing Franchise’s Ten (10) year term expires November 2025. Right-of-way permits for installation. 6 6 Options Considered Approve the proposed Franchise Amendment. Do not approve the proposed Franchise Amendment and provide direction to staff. 7 7 Mayor’s Recommendation Option 1: Forward onto November 16, 2021 Council Meeting for 1st Reading to approve the Franchise Amendment. 8 8 Questions? 9 9
