Kislyak Short Plat, 34402 24th Place SW, Federal Way
Dear Costa Philippides:
The City of Federal Way staff has reviewed your December 16, 2019, July 26, 2021, and August 6, 2021,
submitted documents related to the Kislyak Short Plat application. The Public Works Department has
provided the following comments that will need to be addressed. Questions regarding the technical review
comments should be addressed to the referenced staff representative.
PUBLIC WORKS – TRAFFIC DIVISION
Jason Kennedy, jason.kennedy@cityoffederalway.com, 253-835-2744
1. Update the plan to show conceptual street lights for the proposed street “A.” An illumination plan shall
be designed by a professional engineer and shall be submitted as part of the engineering plan.
2. The civil plans should depict the ¾ street cross-section (Type “W” local street) to be a 24-foot paved
road, 4-foot planter strip, 5-foot sidewalk (south side only), and 3-foot utility strip for a total of a 36-foot
built cross-section. The utility strip is shown as one-foot in the cross-section. Revise the cross-section to
show a three-foot utility strip.
3. The offset intersection of proposed street “A” and SW 344th Court shall be avoided per Development
Standards 3.2.10(B)(5). The new street centerline shall align with the centerline of SW 344th Court and
transition to match with the centerline of 24th Place SW.
4. Verify the intersection sight distance meets AASHTO standards for both intersections.
5. Install an end of city maintenance road sign in connection with 24th Place SW. All street signs installed
shall be on steel poles per the city’s new standard (not published yet in Development Standards). Street
name sign legend shall follow King County’s current standard, which has not yet been formally updated
in city’s Development Standards.
