Update to Terminology
The Mayor has directed staff to use the term "public" or
"members of the public" instead of the less inclusive term
"citizen." The proposed resolution would change council
rules consistent with this terminology.

Update to Written Public Comment
Public comment often consumes a significant portion
of the time allotted for council meetings, contributing
to lengthy meetings and pushing council business late
into the night.
In lieu of reading letters aloud during Council
Meetings, the proposed resolution directs the City
Clerk to:
Transmit written public comments to the City Council;
and,
Attach the written comments to the meeting minutes of
the council meeting to become part of the permanent
record of the meeting.
Options:
i. Adopt the resolution as drafted
z. Instruct staff to alter the resolution
3. Decline to make any changes to Council Rules of
Procedure
