South King County Community Impact Fund
Overview
• Launched in 2019 by Port
Commission to develop equity -based
partnerships with near -airport
communities
• The three programs are:
— WMBE/Small Business Support
— Economic Recovery Grants
— Environmental Grants (EGP)
• EGP is awarding 18 organizations
this year for Round 2 funding
Environmental Grants Program
• Projects must take place on public
property in Burien,, SeaTac, Des
Moines, Federal Way, Normandy
Park, or Tukwila
• $20,000 annual project cap
• New multi -year funding for $601000
over 3 years
• Required 3:1 Match- RCW 35.21.278
Community Liaison Model
• Over the past two years, AV
Consulting and Port built an
equity -based outreach plan to
increase the diversity of
applicants
— Three community liaisons: English,
Spanish, and Somali speaking
— Conducted more focused outreach
within South King County's
multicultural communities
— Helped increase the number and
diversity of applicant organizations
— 50% are first time applicants to the
environmental grants program
