city Council study Session
October 22,1991 - 7:00 PM
A City of Federal Way City Council Study Session, was called to
order by Mayor Debra Ertel, on the 22nd day of October, 1991, at
the hour of 7:03 p.m., in Council Chambers, Federal Way city Hall,
33530 First Way South, Federal Way, Washington, for the purpose of
discussing a legislative package, hearing an update on the King
County planning process, and reviewing departmental budget
proposals. Councilmembers present: Deputy Mayor Mary Gates, Jim
Handmacher, Lynn Templeton, Joel Marks, Bob Stead and Jim Webster.
Councilmembers absent: None. Staff present: J. Brent McFall,
City Manager; Sandra Driscoll, City Attorney and Maureen Swaney,
City Clerk.
I.
SUBURBAN CITIES ASSOCIATION LEGISLATIVE PACKAGE
Information had been circulated with the advance agenda.
Councilmembers mentioned child issues, the". 08" issue,
public/private partnership issues and transit issues as being items
for consideration. They also mentioned that it would be more
appropriate if SCA started this process earlier. Deputy Mayor
Gates will be attending upcoming SCA meetings relating to
legislative proposals.
II.
KING COUNTY PLANNING PROCESS UPDATE
Larry Springer circulated a draft agreement from the Growth
Management Planning Council and updated the Council on this issue.
(Note to the Record: A copy of this draft agreement is part of the
meeting file in the city Clerk's Office).
III.
BUDGET
The Law and Public Works Departments presented their preliminary
budgets to the Council. The next budget presentations are
scheduled for November 12,1991.
