CITY COUNCIL
SPECIAL MEETING
January 8, 1993
The City Council held a special session for the purpose of meeting with Representatives Jean
Marie Brough and Tracy Bide.
The meeting convened at 1:05 pm in the administration conference room of City Hall. In
attendance were Mayor Bob Stead, Deputy Mayor Joel Marks, Councilmember Mary Gates,
Councilmember Ron Gintz, Councilmember Skip Priest, and Council member Ray Tomlinson.
The group reviewed the City's adopted 1993 legislative priorities, which include:
Sales tax
High capacity transit
Criminal justice funding
Tax increment funding
Department of Ecology
Firearms
Education
Water resource management
Regional planning and annexation
Third runway at SeaTac Airport
Legal issues
Councilmembers clarified the City's position and responded to specific questions from the
legislators.
In addition to the legislative priorities, the group discussed transportation, specifically freeway
access at 360th. It was pointed out that the window of opportunity for this project is now. The
City will be forming a task force that will study the south commercial area. The Representatives
expressed a great deal of interest in the problems occurring and the potential solutions.
There being no additional business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:30 pm.
