Council MIN 05-02-1995 Special FEDERAL WAY CITY COUNCIL Special/Study Session Council Chambers - City Hall May 2, 1995 - 5:00 p.m. MINUTES I. CALL MEETING TO ORDER Mayor Gates opened the special/study session of the Federal Way City Council at 5:20 p.m., in Council Chambers, City Hall, Federal Way, Washington. City Council present: Mayor Mary Gates, Deputy Mayor Phil Watkins, Councilmembers Hope Elder, Skip Priest, Ray Tomlinson. Councilmember Ron Gintz arrived after the call to order. Excused absence: Councilmember Jack Dovey. City Staff present: City Manager Ken Nyberg, City Attorney Londi Lindell, City Clerk Chris Green. II. BOND ISSUE BRIEFING Management Assistant Dena Laurent and Assistant Management Services Director Marie Mosley presented information to Council on the proposed streets and parks bond issue for the fall election. Councilmember Priest and Mayor Gates congratulated staff for the clarity of their presentation. III. COMPREHENSIVE PLAN VISION The Comprehensive Plan Vision was presented by COPP Director Larry Springer. Following Council discussion, Mr. Springer said he feels Councilmembers have now provided staff with a clear direction to move forward on the city's comprehensive plan, including some direction for future development of the 348th Street area. Motion by Councilmember Priest to take the vision statement and draft version eight of the map as indicative and not binding, and that staff be directed to continue with the comprehensive plan process; second by Deputy Mayor Watkins.
