MINUTES
I.
CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Mayor Gates opened the special/study session of the Federal Way City Council at 5:35 p.m.,
in Council Chambers, City Hall, Federal Way, Washington.
City Council present: Mayor Mary Gates, Deputy Mayor Phil Watkins, Councilmembers Jack
Dovey, Hope Elder, Ron Gintz, Mike Park, Skip Priest.
City Staff present: City Manager Ken Nyberg, City Attorney Londi Lindell, City Clerk Chris
Green, Deputy City Clerk Bob Baker.

BOND ISSUE/STREET PROJECT BRIEFING
Dena Laurent, Chair of the Bond Committee, provided Council with an update, including
feedback and publicity specifics.
Cary Roe, Director of Public Works, reviewed the proposed street projects for the bond issue,
as well as street improvements related thereto. He also addressed questions presented to him
by Council relative to a light being installed at 4th and Dashpoint Road and 8th and
Dashpoint Road. Mayor Gates summarized the issues and invited public input.
Richard Burris, H. David Kaplan and Marilee Abner all raised issues regarding existing
roads/streets, which are in need of improvement(s). Mayor Gates thanked them for their
input, and said their points were well-taken and would be considered.
III.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Council, Mayor Gates adjourned the
special/study session of the Federal Way City Council at the hour of 6:23 p.m..
