CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Mayor Gates opened the special/study session of the Federal Way City Council at 5:37 p.m.,
in Council Chambers, City Hall, Federal Way, Washington.
City Council present: Mayor Mary Gates, Deputy Mayor Phil Watkins, Councilmembers Jack
Dovey, Hope Elder, Ron Gintz, Mike Park and Skip Priest.
City Staff present: City Manager Ken Nyberg, City Attorney Londi Lindell, City Clerk Chris
Green, Deputy City Clerk Bob Baker.

BOND ISSUE/CELEBRATION PARK BRIEFING
Jennifer Schroder, Director Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services, provided Council with an
update and introduced Bruce Dees, of Dees & Associates. Mr. Dees presented Council with a
slide presentation outlining three different preferences for Celebration Park. The slides
depicted possible layouts of the Park as well as the topography related to the area. Council
questioned Mr. Dees extensively regarding the preferences and related costs. Mr. Dees
reported the plans, as currently written, would cost approximately $8.5 Million.
Councilmember Gintz stated the original goal of $7.5 Million should be kept.
Council agrees upon Site F5D and Councilmember Dovey moves for refined numbers to bring
the plan in alignment with the $7.5 Million goal; second by Councilmember Gintz. Motion
carried as follows:

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Council, Mayor Gates adjourned the
regular meeting of the Federal Way City Council at the hour of 6:50 p.m.
