CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Mayor Gates opened the special/study session of the Federal Way City Council at 6: 12 p.m.,
in Council Chambers, City Hall, Federal Way, Washington.
City Council present: Mayor Mary Gates, Councilmembers Jack Dovey, Hope Elder, Ron
Gintz, Mike Park and Skip Priest.
Deputy Mayor Watkins is excused
City Staff present: City Manager Ken Nyberg, City Attorney Londi Lindell, City Clerk Chris
Green, Deputy City Clerk Bob Baker.

AUTOMATED FINGERPRINT IDENTIFICATION (AFIS) PROGRAM
Mr. Steve Nolin, staff to the King County Council briefed our councilmembers on AFIS; its
purpose, function, success and the costs related to it. He also broke down the expenditures
listed in a cost sheet provided to the Council.
King County Councilmember Jane Hague addressed the Council further on the draft proposal
which is at her Law, Justice & Human Services Committee and requested input from our
Council re: questions, comments, concerns, etc. to take back to the King County Council.
AFIS Technician Marilyn Ault was also present to answer questions from the Council.

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Council, Mayor Gates adjourned the
special/study session of the Federal Way City Council at the hour of 6:55 p.m.
