CITIZEN COMMENT
Mary Standfill, Steel Lake Little League representative, spoke to the Council regarding the
impacts of the impending loss of five little league fields and one big league field currently
leased by the Little League through the end of December, 1995; creating a loss for the kids
of Federal Way, Auburn and Kent. She reported two attempts to purchase pieces of the
property have been made. One attempt was unsuccessful and there has been no response to
the most recent offer. She requested any assistance possible from the City Council to "keep
the children off the streets." Mayor Gates, previously aware of the situation, informed Ms.
Standfill she had written a letter in August, on behalf of Council, in support of the fields for
the kids' use.
