CITIZEN COMMENT
Bob Green, President and CEO of the Greater Federal Way Chamber of
Commerce expressed appreciation for the way the budget was
presented and efforts made to make a very difficult process
understandable. The Chamber believes that we need to invest in
Economic Development and encourage new businesses to locate here.
This will provide for increased property values, sales tax and jobs
and provide much of our revenue for ,the future. Clark Daffern,
Chairman of the Board of the Greater Federal Way Chamber of
Commerce presented a proposal for an Economic Development
initiative for Council's consideration. The joint city/Chamber
Economic Development initiative encompasses three main elements:
(1) Community Assistance Center, (2) Business Retention and
Recruitment and (3) Tourism/Visitor Information Center. The
Chamber proposed a centralization of this function to be
administered by the Chamber and supported jointly by the Chamber
and the city.
