The Federal Way Black Collective, in support of the request by the descendants of John Newington
Conna and Mary Conna, ask that the appointment of the naming of the trail at Panther Lake be halted
for reconsideration. The Conna descendants want to have a publicly engaged and inclusive decision
making process that includes the community and family about an appropriate and relevant honor instead
of the appointed trail. The FWBC supports this request and asks that the Mayor and members of the
City Council collaborate with us, the John N Conna descendants, and members of the community to
respectfully honor the contributions of their legacy.
