MINUTES
I.
CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Councilmember Ron Gintz opened the special meeting of the Federal Way City Council at
5:35 p.m.
City Council present: Mayor Skip Priest, Deputy Mayor Hope Elder, Mary Gates, Phil Watkins,
Ron Gintz, Jack Dovey and Michael Park.
City staff present: Ken Nyberg, Philip Keightley, Londi Lindell, Chris Green, Bob Baker, Iwen
Wang, Greg Moore, Bonnie Lindstrom, Cary Roe, Marie Mosley

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLAN
Greg Moore gave brief opening remarks.
Deborah Coates stated the Economic Development Committee received a $ 20,000.00 grant for
marketing the Federal Way community.
Rob Reuber said resources are a concern. He has noticed Federal Way has taken an active role
to expedite matters. Further, he stated the amenities are positive; therefore marketing is the
most important thing we can do at this point to promote the community.
Jim Hamilton, Len Schott, Bob Green and Jeff Stock all added their points of view as they relate
the issue. All persons exchanged ideas to promote Federal Way.
Mayor Priest stated perception of Federal Way is key. He wondered if all "the players" are on
the "same page" on where emphasis needs to be placed.
Deputy Mayor Elder stated we've received much positive publicity lately and we should work on
this project now.
