Res 89-005 RESOLUTION No. 89-5 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FEDERAL WAY, related to the 1989 King County Trail and Open Space Bond Proposition, WHEREAS, the voters of King County will decide, at the November 7,1989 general election, whether King County shall issue bonds to finance the acquisition of certain trail and open space lands, and WHEREAS, the City Council of Federal Way finds a need to preserve open space lands within Federal Way and throughout King County through public acquisition, and WHEREAS, the bond proposition will generate $117.6 million for use in acquiring or developing 116 projects of greenbelts, natural areas and trails throughout King County including the acquisition of seven open space projects in and near the City of Federal Way, totaling over $5,300,000; now, therefore: THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FEDERAL WAY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: section 1. The City council of the City of Federal Way unanimously supports the King County Trail and Open Space Bond Proposition, which will be placed on the ballot for the general election of November 7, 1989 and will provide for the public acquisition of trail and open space lands within King County. FINAL READING OF ORDINANCES None INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES None • RESOLUTIONS Resolution No. 89 - A resolution of the City Council of Federal Way related to the king County Open Space Bond Ballot Measure No. 2. MOTION was made by Councilmember Webster, seconded by Councilmember Marks, to approve Resolution No. 89-5. Voice vote was taken and carried. Resolution No. 89-6 - A resolution of the City Council of Federal Way related to King County Ordinance No. 89-478, Clearing and Grading Ordinance. MOTION was made by Councilmember Handmacher, seconded by Councilmember Gates, to approve Resolution No. 89-6. Voice vote was taken and carried. Mayor Ertel indicated that this item had been discussed earlier in the meeting and would be considered next week. PUBLIC HEARINGS AND APPEALS Mayor Ertel announced that there were no hearings scheduled and indicated that public comment would be accepted later in the meeting. Resolution Nos. 89-3 and 89-5 indicate our support of King County Proposition One and the King County Trail and Open Space Bond Issue. Resolution No. 89-6 expresses support for King County proposed Ordinance No. 89-478 which provides standards for the clearing of vegetation _ and amends the King County grading and zoning codes. We urge its adoption as an emergency ordinance in order to avoid costly and environmentally damaging delays. Copies of these resolutions are enclosed for your reference.
