RESOLUTION NO. 89-6
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FEDERAL
WAY, related to Proposed King County Ordinance No. 89-478,
Clearing and Grading Ordinance,
WHEREAS, the King County Council will consider an
ordinance providing standards for clearing of vegetation;
amending and adding definitions to the King County grading code
and amending the King County zoning codes and environmental
policy, and,
WHEREAS, land clearing and grading will continue to be
governed and regulated by King County within the City of Federal
Way until such time as the City formally incorporates, and,
WHEREAS, land clearing and grading activities within the
city limits of the City of Federal Way continue at an
accelerated pace posing significant land use and environmental
concerns for the citizens of Federal Way, and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of Federal Way finds a need to
regulate land clearing and grading until such time the City of
Federal Way formally incorporates; now, therefore:
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FEDERAL WAY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Federal Way
unanimously supports King County Proposed Ordinance No. 89-478
providing standards for the clearing of vegetation and amending
the King County grading and zoning codes.
Section 2. The City Council urges King County to adopt
Proposed Ordinance No. 89-478 as an emergency ordinance in order
to avoid costly and environmentally damaging delays.
ADOPTED BY the City Council of the city of Federal Way,
Washington this 17th day of October 1989 and signed in
authentication thereof this 24th day of October, 1989.
