RESOLUTION NO. 14
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING THE
OFFICIAL DATE OF INCORPORATION FOR THE NEWLY
FORMED CITY OF FEDERAL WAY AS FEBRUARY 28,
1990, AND STATING TilE POPULATION OF THE CITY
AS OF TilE DATE OF INCORPORATION.
WHEREAS, the voters of the proposed city of Federal Way
cast their ballots on March 14, 1989, and overwhelmingly voted to
create the new city of Federal Way, Washington, and
WHEREAS,
voters
of
the
to-be-incorporated
city
of
Federal Way, Washington, elected their first city council at an
election held for said purposes on September 19,1989, and
WHEREAS, State law requires the first duly elected city
council of a to-be incorporated city to establish by resolution
the official date of incorporation, NOW, TIIEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIl... OF TilE NEWLY FORMED CITY OF FEDERAL
WAY, WASIIINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.
Pursuant to RCW 35.02.130 the city council,
as the governing body of the new city of Federal Way, Washington,
hereby
states
and
declares
that
the
official
date
of
incorporation of the city of Federal Way, Washington, shall be
February 28, 1990, at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Standard Time.
section 2.
The city council of the newly formed City
of Federal Way ,washington, hereby declares that the population
of the city of Federal Way, Washington, as of February 28, 1990,
the official date of incorporation, is 58,000 residents.
