A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING KING
COUNTY TO PLACE A MEASURE AUTHORIZING A
COUNTYWIDE PROPERTY TAX LEVY OF $.025 PER
THOUSAND OF ASSESSED VALUE TO SUPPORT
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES BEFORE THE VOTERS
AT THE NOVEMBER 5, 1991, GENERAL ELECTION,
WHEREAS, RCW 84,52,069 allows counties and certain other
taxing
districts,
subject
to
voter
approval,
to
impose
an
additional regular property tax of up to $,50 per thousand dollars
of assessed valuation in each year for six consecutive years for
the purpose of funding emergency medical services; and
WHEREAS, King County is seeking voter authorization of an
emergency medical services levy of up to $0,25 for the period of
1992 through 1997; and
WHEREAS,
RCW
84,52,069
requires
the
County
to
seek
authorization from cities with the population of 50,000 or more to
place the measure on the ballot; and
WHEREAS,
the
emergency
medical
services
(EMS)
levy
revenues
are
generally
used
to
help
support
Fire
Department
personnel who respond first to all medical emergencies, and for
essential medical supplies and equipment, and the EMS division also
operates four paramedic units providing services in South King
County; and
WHEREAS,
authorization of the
1992-1997
EMS
levy is
needed to maintain essential emergency medical services to cities
of King County and citizens of Federal Way and assure continued

very
best
in
emergency
medical
care¡
NOW,
THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:
The City Council of the City of Federal Way, Washington
authorizes King County to place a measure authorizing a countywide
property tax levy of
$,025 per thousand of assessed value to
support
emergency
medical
services
before
the
voters
at
the
November 5, 1991, general election.
