A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF FEDERAL WAY,
WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING AN EMERGENCY SERVICES
ORGANIZATION AND DESIGNATING THE CITY MANAGER
OR HIS OR HER DESIGNEE AS THE HEAD OF THE
ORGANIZATION.
WHEREAS,

directs
each
political subdivision of the State of Washington to establish a
local organization for emergency management in accordance with
state emergency management plan and program; and
WHEREAS,
the Department of Emergency Services of the
State of Washington has established regulations under chapter 181-
06 WAC regarding the establishment of
such a
local emergency
services organization; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City of Federal Way to
comply with the requirements of the state law and regulations
adopted thereunder; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FEDERAL WAY DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
section 1.
Pursuant to chapter 38.52 RCW, there is
hereby established in the City of Federal Way an emergency services
organization
for
the
purposes
of
performing
local
emergency
services functions.
The organization shall represent the City of
Federal Way only and shall perform such functions only within the
city.
section 2.
The
organization
shall
be
under
the
direction of the City Manager or his or her designee.
The city
Manager
shall
be
directly
responsible
for
the
organization,
administration,
and
operation
of
the
emergency
services
organization.
section 3.
The organization shall have all the powers
granted under chapter 38.52 RCW and as may otherwise be provided by
law.
