92-112
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON, APPROVING A REPORT
ENTITLED "ISSUES FOR FUTURE COORDINATION
BETWEEN FEDERAL WAY AND PRIVATE UTILITIES."
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Federal Way,
Washington, has approved the Federal Way Utility Plan; and
WHEREAS, in conjunction with the adoption of the utility
Plan, the attached report entitled "Issues for Future Coordination
Between Federal Way and Private Utilities" was presented to the
Planning Commission; and
WHEREAS, the report examined issues and potential policy
responses of common interests to the city and private utility
providers relating to:
A.
Overview of coordination between private
utilities and the city;
B.
Energy conservation;
C.
Health impacts;
D.
Environmental impacts;
E.
Planning to meet the City's future needs;
F.
city utility planning; and
WHEREAS, the report initiated dialogue between the city
and private utility operators on these issues; and
WHEREAS, the Council encourages continued contact and
dialogue between the City and private utility providers to further
explore these issues as part of the future coordination between
these various agencies; NOW, THEREFORE,

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FEDERAL WAY DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section
1.
Findinas.
The
City
Council makes
the
following Findings with respect to the report:
1.
The city Council should work with Puget Power to
develop
its
vegetation
removal
and
replacement
program.
2.
The City should share information and any minutes
of meetings,
especially of
the utilities
joint
committee on facilities.
3.
The city should explore a process of requiring
participation of the utility companies to install
systems during street-widening operations.
4.
The City and puget Power should jointly look for
opportunities to share information which can be
input into the city's GIS.

The report
entitled
"Issues
for Future
Coordination
Between
Federal
Way
and
Private
utilities"
is
approved.
section
3.
Approval
of
the
"Issues
for
Future
Coordination Between Federal Way and Private utilities" will ensure
that policies relating to energy conservation, environmental and
health impacts,
and City utility planning will be studied and
developed jointly by the District and the city.
