A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON, AMENDING
RESOLUTION NOS. 92-92, 92-98, 92-110, 92-116;
SETTING FORTH CITY COUNCIL PROCEDURES; AND
REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 89-2; RELATING TO
STANDING COMMITTEES OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
WHEREAS,
RCW
35A.2
authorizes
the
City
Council
to
determine its own rules and order of business; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Federal Way
finds it to be in the public interest to adopt Council Committees
for
the
purposes
of
researching,
acquiring
information,
and
formulating positions and making recommendations as to policy to
the full Council on issues of concern to the City of Federal Way,
and which lead to Committee recommendations to the Council as a
whole; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FEDERAL WAY DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.
Repealer.
Resolution No.
89-2,
adopted
November 27, 1989, is repealed.
section 2.
section 21 of the city Council Rules of
Procedure, adopted January 21, 1992, and amended March 17, 1992,
May 19, 1992, and July 21, 1992, establishing Council committee
structures, is hereby amended as contained on Exhibit A entitled
"Section 21.
Council Committees."
Section 3 - Ratification.
Any act consistent with the
authority and prior to the effective date of this resolution is
hereby ratified and affirmed.

Section 4 - Effective Date.
This resolution shall be
effective immediately upon passage.

SECTION 21.
COUNCIL COMMmEES
21.1
Council committees are policy review and discussion arms of the Council. Committees
may study issues and develop recommendations for consideration by the Council.
Committees may not take binding action on behalf of the City.
Council Committee structure shall be as determined by the City Council in
January of each year. The Im~ committees are as follows:

meetings.

The City Manager or Mayor may send issues directly to committeeS :fdt their
review in lieu of being referred to committee by the entire Council.

Council members in making committee assignmeîíts.

Membership of each committee will consist of three {3} C'ouncilmembets.
