RESOLUTION NO.
95-207
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON, RENAMING STEEL
LAKE PARK FIELD #5 IN HONOR OF JOHN MASENGALE
WHEREAS, the city of Federal Way desires to honor the
memory of John Masengale who died in the line of duty while serving
the community; and
WHEREAS, John Masengale was especially giving of his time
to youth league sports; and
WHEREAS, the city of Federal Way Parks and Recreation
commission hosted a public hearing on June 1,1995 to solicit input
on the renaming of Steel Lake Park Field #5 in honor of John
Masengale; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation commission passed a
motion to recommend the naming of Steel Lake Park Field #5 after
John Masengale; and
WHEREAS,
on June
12,
1995
the Parks
and Recreation
committee
of
the
Federal
way
City
Council
approved
this
recommendation for consideration by the full city council; and
WHEREAS, the
City council finds that good cause exists
for approving this resolution;
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FEDERAL
WAY HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
section 1.
Renaminq of Park Field.
In honor of the
memory of John Masengale and of his service to the city and to the

people of Federal Way, Steel Lake Park Field #5 shall hereafter be
known as John Masengale Field.
section 2.
Severabilitv.
If any section,
sentence,
clause or phrase of this resolution should be held to be invalid or
unconstitutional
by
a
court
of
competent
jurisdiction,
such
invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or
constitutionality of any other section, sentence, clause or phrase
of this resolution.
section 3.
Ratification.
Any act consistent with the
authority and prior to the effective date of the resolution is
hereby ratified and affirmed.
section 4.
Effective Date.
This resolution shall be
effective immediately upon passage by the Federal Way City Council.
