Res 01-345 RESOLUTION NO. 01-345 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON, APPROVING ACCEPTANCE OF THE 2001 LOCAL LAW ENFORCMENT BLOCK GRANT. WHEREAS, the Bureau Justice Assistance grants Local Law Enforcement Block Grants to local law enforcement jurisdictions for the purpose of enhancing law enforcement in the community; and WHEREAS, the City of Federal Way, Department of Public Safety, has received a Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG) grant each year since 1996; and WHEREAS, the City of Federal Way, Department of Public Safety, applied for a LLEBG grant in 2001 for the purpose of providing surveillance cameras on the Pacific Highway corridor and other locations within the City; and WHEREAS, the Bureau of Justice Assistance notified the City on July 31,2001, that it has been awarded a LLEBG grant in the amount of Eighty-Six Thousand, Five Hundred Nineteen and 701100 Dollars ($86,519.70); and WHEREAS, in order to receive the monies in the LLEBG grant the City must provide matching funds of Nine Thousand, Six Hundred Thirteen and 30/100 Dollars ($9,613.30), and the City Council must authorize acceptance of the grant by resolution; and WHEREAS, the City, Department of Public Safety, must notify the Bureau Justice Assistance of its intent to accept the LLEBG grant by September 13, 2001. Res, #íll=341>Page I CC(Q)~l1 NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1, Notification of Acceptance of the 2001 Local Law Enforcement Block Grant. The City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to notify the Bureau Justice Assistance that the City of Federal Way accepts the 2001 LLEBG for the purpose of providing surveillance cameras along the Pacific Highway corridor and other locations within the City as detennined by the Department of Public Safety. Section 2, Receipt ofLLEBG Funds. The City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to receive the LLEBG funds of Eighty-six Thousand, Five Hundred Nineteen and 701100 Dollars ($86,519.70). Section 3. Matching Funds Authorized. Pursuant to the tenus of the LLEBG grant, the City commits approximately Nine Thousand Six Hundred Thirteen and 30/100 Dollars ($9,613.30), in matching funds for the purpose of providing surveillance cameras along the Pacific Highway corridor and other locations within the City as detennined by the Department of Public Safety. Section 4. Severability. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this resolution should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other section, sentence, clause or phrase of this resolution. Section 5. Ratification. Any act consistent with the authority and prior to the effective date of the resolution is hereby ratified and affinned. Section 6. Effective Date. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon passage by the Federal Way City Council.
